The fulfillment of the 70th week of Daniel 9 is fairly straight-forward

Understanding the seven years of the 70th week of Daniel is very important, because of the truth of its fulfillment and the deceptions based on it.

The 70th week of Daniel 9 is the only prophecy that foretold when Messiah would start His ministry and die for our sins.  The context of Daniel 9 is that the Jews are at the end of their 70-year captivity, and Daniel is inquiring about what will happen to them.  Daniel is not seeking information about the end times or the antichrist, just about the destiny of the Jewish nation.  Daniel 9:24-27 gives the answer.

Seventy Shemitah cycles are determined for the Jewish people. The prophecy is pointing to seventy 7-year Shemitah cycles, which is ten 49-year Jubilee cycles. The first seven weeks of the prophecy point to seven 7-year Shemitah cycles, which is one Jubilee cycle of 49 years.

The commands from Cyrus and Darius were about the rebuilding the temple, not the city.

The timeline started with a command from Persian King Artaxerxes in 457 BC, so the 70th week occurred from 27-34 AD, which is the time frame in which we know Messiah carried out His ministry and died for our sins. This is confirmed by the book of 1 Esdras, which is an extension of the book of Ezra. And it’s validated, as a year of Jubilee took place in 457 BC, when the captive Jews were set free, confirming the starting year.

The command from King Artaxerxes in 445/444 BC was to restart the rebuilding of Jerusalem, as it had been stopped, which is why Nehemiah was so sad; so it’s not the correct decree.

Daniel 9:24 defines six things to be fulfilled during the 490 years.  The Jews cannot fulfill them.  Our Messiah did with His blood atonement that paid for transgressions and reconciled the Jews, and us, with the Father. Isaiah 53 foretold Messiah being wounded for our transgressions, our iniquities, when He was ‘cut off.

In Daniel 9:25-27, you see how the 70-weeks are structured. It started with 7-weeks (one Jubilee cycle) during which the Jews were empowered to rebuild Jerusalem. Then 62 weeks of mostly silence from the prophets. And then the pinnacle of the prophecy, the last 7-years of the 70th week. Daniel 9:25 points to Messiah the Prince appearing after 69 weeks. 9:26 points to Him dying after the 69 weeks, meaning in the 70th week. His multi-year ministry took place in the 70th week, starting with His Isaiah declaration and anointing at His baptism.

The ‘people of the prince’ are the Jews, who are declared in Daniel 9:24 as ‘thy people.Messiah the Prince is of the tribe of Judah, so the Jews are ‘the people of the prince.’

The Jews caused Jerusalem and the temple to be destroyed because they continued in their rebellion against the Heavenly Father and they rejected His Son and delivered Him up to be killed, so it was their punishment.

The Jews caused Jerusalem and the temple to be destroyed because they attacked the army of Cestius, killing thousands of soldiers, which incited the ire of the Roman Emperor who sent three legions of soldiers to Jerusalem to capture the Jews.

The Jews caused Jerusalem and the temple to be destroyed because they caused the peaceable Titus, who tried to get them to surrender, to order the desolation after being horrified by the Jews causing hundreds of thousands of their own people to die.

Daniel 9:25-26 points to Messiah the Prince, so the ‘he’ in Daniel 9:27 is still Messiah, who came to ratify the everlasting covenant in the middle of the 70th week.  The word ‘prince’ is the same Hebrew word, nagiyd. It makes no sense for the word prince to point to two different people. Many Jews believed in Messiah the Prince, 3,000 on Pentecost and more were added daily. Messiah’s Ekklesia was built on a foundation of Jews.

The 70th week of Daniel points to Messiah’s multiyear ministry, not just His death.

People who believe that the 70th week of Daniel 9 is yet to be fulfilled, proclaim that four days after the 69th week was fulfilled, Messiah entered Jerusalem to be ‘cut off,’ killed, fulfilling Daniel 9:26.

But the prophecy is not just pointing to Messiah coming to die, but to His multiyear ministry in which He said, ‘repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

It started when He was baptized by John, when the Spirit descended on Him, and the Father proclaimed ‘This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’

Then He went into the synagogue, read the Isaiah passage and proclaimed that it was fulfilled in Him. His many miracles served to validate His authority.

On Passover, at the beginning of His ministry, He cleansed the temple, driving out the money-changers. Three years later He repeated this temple cleansing before He died as the Spotless Lamb on Passover.

Messiah confirmed the everlasting covenant of Daniel 9:4. Daniel 9:27 says that he ‘confirms’ the covenant, which means that the covenant already existed. We only have to look back to Daniel 9:4 to see that Daniel is pleading with the Heavenly Father to remember His covenant of mercy to those who love Him.

“And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments.”

Messiah came to confirm the everlasting covenant that was made to Father Abraham, which needed to be ratified by the blood of Messiah, the Spotless Lamb.

Romans 15:8 says, “Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers.“

Galatians 3:17 says, “And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect.”

Hebrews 13:20 says, “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant.

Daniel 9:27 points to the timing of Messiah’s death, in the middle of the 7-years.  The word ‘for’ in Daniel 9:27 is added by the translators, making it seem to point to a 7-year covenant. It’s simply pointing to the last week of seven years.

Messiah’s death on the cross caused the need for temple animal sacrifices to cease, as He is the one-time atonement for sin. The Father validated this when He tore the temple curtain in two, though the rebellious Jewish leaders continued sacrifices until their judgment in 70 AD.

The deception is that the 70th week of Daniel hasn’t been fulfilled yet.

We’ve been told that it is about an end-times antichrist who makes a 7-year peace agreement with Israel, which starts a 7-year tribulation period.

The Jesuits created this deception in the 16th century to deflect blame away from the Popes of Rome, as the Protestant Reformers had rightly identified them as the Little Horn of Daniel, Son of Perdition of 2 Thessalonians 2, and antichrist beast of Revelation 13.

They had Jesuit Priest Francisco Ribera, a brilliant man with a doctorate in theology, write a 500 page commentary with an opposing view, where he manipulated prophecies in the books of Daniel and Revelation, to create the narrative of a one-man antichrist in an end-time 7-year tribulation. This idea, called Futurism, was quickly adopted as the Roman Catholic Church’s official position on the Antichrist.

The true Church effectively rejected these futuristic concepts until the 19th century, when the Jesuits caused several people to promote these concepts; including Pastor Edward Irving, John Nelson Darby and Cyrus Ingerson Scofield, which led to these deceptions being taught at Dallas Theological Seminary, where the leaven of the Jesuits deceptions have spread around the world.

The historical witness of the many persecuted believers and theologians of the past have been pushed aside, and futurism is now taught by most Pastors.

The 70th Week Of Daniel 9 Decoded

I understand that this explanation of the 70th week of Daniel may be new to you, so I want to step back and take a child-like, logical view of the prophecy.

Simply ask yourself:

How long does it take the Father to fulfill His own 70 week prophecy? The obvious and correct answer is 70 weeks.  If a 70 week prophecy is given and it is not fulfilled in 70 consecutive weeks, then the prophecy is not valid.

What week follows the 69th week? The obvious answer is the 70th week, but the enemy would have you believe that there is a 1,990+ year time gap between the 69th and 70th week, even though there is no such time gap defined in Daniel 9.

Daniel 9:25 mentions the arrival of the promised Messiah, and then Daniel 9:27 mentions a ‘covenant‘. Whose covenant do you suppose that it is referring to? Isn’t it logical to assume that it is Messiah’s covenant, as the reason that He came was to die to ratify the everlasting covenant with His blood as the Passover Lamb?

The text even proclaims that He was ‘cut off‘, meaning that He was killed, in the middle of the seven years, which matches Isaiah’s prophecy about the promised Messiah, in Isaiah 53:8, “He was taken from prison and from judgment. And as for His generation, who considered that He shall be cut off from the land of the living? For the transgression of My people He was stricken.

The consequences of the 70 Weeks of Daniel deception are grand!

The enemy’s end times deception is based on the concept of a futuristic 70th week of Daniel. It causes people to look for an end times one-man Antichrist, instead of identifying the office of the papacy as the beast of Revelation, the Little Horn of Daniel and the Son of Perdition.

This is the very reason that the end times 7 year tribulation deception was created by the Roman Catholic Church. They were being accused by the Protestant Reformers of being the Antichrist system who persecuted the saints. The Protestant Reformers told people to ‘come out of her‘, which caused millions of people to leave the Roman Catholic Church and be saved by the pure Gospel of Messiah.

The enemy has programmed our minds to view the 70th week of Daniel as futuristic. But when you understand that the 70th week of Daniel has been fulfilled, and that it’s not an end-times 7-year tribulation period; most of the enemy’s deceptions about prophecy fulfillment crumble to the ground.

The Revelation Timeline Decoded Bible study series gives you the proof that the Popes of Rome are the beast of Revelation, the Little Horn of Daniel and the Son of Perdition.

    • Hello Abu, the 70th week of Daniel doesn’t point to Messiah’s birth, but to His ministry and to His death. The 70th week started in 27 AD, when Messiah was over thirty years old, which puts His birth around 3/4 BC.

  1. Good points David but you are very wrlng about the mark if the beast. It will be a rfid / nano tech chip and corona, man made, will usher us towards it: cashless society, electronic tracking as tl who is vaccinated etc. You are correct about the 70th week of Daniel, it already happened yet is distorted tl introduce a third temple , which is not a biblical prophecy

    Reply
    • Ella, The mark of the beast is directly related to revering the antichrist. The RDIF chip or tattoo and the Corona vaxc are not directly related to revering the antichrist, therefore they are not the mark of the beast. I will cover this in more detail in my upcoming Revelation Timeline Decoded book.

      • David, I disagree strongly with you because the scriptures say he CAUSETH all to receive it. Not even Jesus causes us to adore Him, but we love Him because He first loved us.

I think those who teach that receiving the MOB is an act of adoration or willful worship will mislead potential believers.

        • Sam, there’s many verses which use the word ‘all’ which obviously don’t mean every single person.

An example is John 5:23 “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” Did all men honor the Son? No.

We can see examples of the people in France and Spain obeying the antichrist beast Pope’s demand to persecute the saints. And we see the judgment that came upon them during the bloody French Revolution. http://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/revelation-14-the-mark-of-the-beast/

To worship (mark on forehead) means to revere, as 1.3 Catholics do with the antichrist beast Pope. And Catholics obey (mark on right hand, actions) the antichrist beast Pope.

  2. Not a comment but a question: Is there any Scriptural or historical proof that the ministry of Yeshua was actually 3.5 years as opposed to 70 weeks as some will also argue?

    Reply
    • Jason, there’s much debate about the length of Messiah’s ministry. We can see from the witness of John and the narrative of the Passovers that it was over two years in length, but it’s a challenge to prove out that it was exactly 3.5 years.

The 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy says that Messiah appears after the 69 weeks, meaning in the 70th week, but it doesn’t say when. It does tell us that Messiah died in the middle of the seven years, when He confirmed the everlasting covenant with His blood as the Spotless Lamb.

Whether His ministry was two years or 3.5 doesn’t change the fulfillment of the 70th week of Daniel 9 prophecy.

      Reply
    • Hi Jason,
The gospel of John records the Messiah’s ministry starting days before a Passover and ending two years later on a Passover. John was with the Messiah from the start to the end.
His ministry was two years. 3.5 years comes from a misunderstanding of Daniel 9 prophecy.

  3. From the information you give about your book, I can promise you that you’re in error. The prophecy was locked with one word. Unless you find the word and follow the prophecy exactly how it is written you will not understand it.

  4. The mark of the BEAST cannot be about Worship, it about buying and selling, meaning it an economical system. It the IMAGE of the BEAST that has to do with worship. The mark of the BEAST is something physical that is inserted in people’s right hand or foreheads. Whether it be a Vaccine or a Nano chip it doesn’t matter. Whatever thing that will prevent people from partaking in the economic system will be the Mark of the BEAST but it definitely not Sunday worship. If I can still buy and sell from Monday to Saturday and only prevented from Buying and Selling on Sunday that doesn’t fulfill the requirements of a certain Mark

    • This page is about my 70th Week Of Daniel 9 Decoded book, which has nothing to do with the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast is revering (mark on forehead) and obeying (mark on right hand, actions) the antichrist beast Pope.

We can see how that has been fulfilled by people in Catholic France, Spain and other countries, who revered and obeyed the antichrist beast Pope in persecuting Messiah’s saints. Their punishment came during the bowl judgments, during the bloody French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars.

As for the passage about buying and selling, when the worldwide economy collapses, then nobody will be able to buy and sell. Then the antichrist beast Pope may offer a One World financial system, so that if people revere and obey him, they will be able to buy and sell again. And part of that system may involve a physical RFID chip or tattoo.

Those who don’t revere and obey the antichrist beast Pope will be cut off from the financial system and may be killed. I provide explanations about the book of Revelation on this website: https://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/

    • I agree with you wholly. The author (David) is wise is many regards, (and I mean absolutely no disrespect), but he is WRONG about the MOB. The author has incorporated this error from teachings of the SDA church.

The MOB is forced upon everyone and excludes them from the economy if they do not comply. We really got a taste of that recently.

If you actually revere someone, then it’s not forced upon you. If you willingly obey something, then it’s not forced upon you.

I think a lot of well intentioned SDA members will willingly receive a physical mark on their hand or forehead because they feel safe because they don’t worship on Sunday. Because “surely that can’t be the MOB” because their leaders told them they’re ok as long as they don’t worship the pope or revere the Catholic system. Sure, ignore the literal description of the mark in the scriptures. However, I think people are judged for the explicit words of the bible, not just the inferences which may be subject to denominational slant.

It’s the same with Baptist churches not preparing for the endtimes due to their erroneous belief in pretrib rapture.

I guess throw out the bathwater, but keep the baby. Good info on this sight, but not free from error.

      Reply
      • Sam, I’m confused about you saying that I have incorporated my view of the mark of the beast from the SDA church. They teach that Sunday worship is the MOB. I do not teach that.

The MOB has to do with revering and obeying the antichrist beast Pope. That is why the judgment of having the MOB is so harsh.

        Reply
      • Sam, I agree with you whole heartedly. I like most of what the author is presenting, but the Mark of the Beast is as you say and we’re seeing it now. When one’s DNA is changed and proven by scientific papers, that means something huge. As in the days of Noah.

        • Holly, the mark of the beast is related to revering and obeying the antichrist. The antichrist is not a system, it’s a man. Are people taking the cv jab because they are revering and obeying the antichrist? No.

That said, Catholics may be revering the antichrist beast Pope as he is recommending the cv jab, but Catholics already have the mark of the beast on them as they revere (mark on forehead) and obey (mark on right hand, actions) the antichrist beast Pope.

  5. Dearest David- I was wondering if you had any specific resources you recommend about the apocrypha? You referred back to 1 Esdras and gave a bit of your thoughts about the apocrypha in your book, and I’ve been curious to find more info about it since then. If you happen to have the time to share what you have read or the sources you have found, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much! 🙂

  6. Curious why you believe the Catholic Church came up with the futurist doctrine? I thought the Catholic Church held an Ammillienial and preterist view? Also, do you have documentation you can reference that supports your claim: “…Church…rejected these futuristic concepts until the 19th century, when the Jesuits caused several people to promote these concepts… ” Then how do you explain this?
    ” Justin Martyr (A.D. 100–165) in his Dialogue With Trypho (@ A.D. 140), a Jewish man,
    made the following premillennial statement:
But I and others, who are right-minded Christians on all points, are assured
that there will be a resurrection of the dead, and a thousand years in
Jerusalem, which will then be built, adorned, and enlarged, as the prophets
Ezekiel and Isaiah and others declare.
    5
Justin considered premillennialism an aspect of orthodoxy in his day.
And further, there was a certain man with us, whose name was John, one of
the apostles of Christ, who prophesied, by a revelation that was made to him,
that those who believed in our Christ would dwell a thousand years in
Jerusalem; and that thereafter the general, and, in short, the eternal
resurrection and judgment of all men would likewise take place.

    IRENAEUS AND TERTULLIAN
Two of the greatest ante-Nicene fathers were Irenaeus and Tertullian (A.D. 160–230).
Irenaeus grew up in Asia Minor and was discipled by Polycarp, who knew the Apostle
John. Irenaeus had a very extensive view of Bible prophecy in his last five chapters of Against Heresies, which were suppressed throughout the Middle Ages by anti-
premillennialists and rediscovered in 1571.7 The restoration of a more literal
interpretation and reading of the early church fathers by many post-Reformationists led
to a revival of premillennialism in the early 1600s. Irenaeus’ writings played a key role
because of their clear premillennial statements. “John, therefore, did distinctly foresee the first ‘resurrection of the just,’ and the inheritance in the kingdom of the earth,” he says, “and what the prophets have prophesied concerning it harmonize [with his
    vision].”Again, Irenaeus declares:
But when this Antichrist shall have devastated all things in this world, he will
reign for three years and six months, and sit in the temple at Jerusalem; and
then the Lord will come from heaven in the clouds, in the glory of the Father,
sending this man and those who follow him into the lake of fire; but bringing
in for the righteous the times of the kingdom. Tertullian, who gave us the Latin word “Trinity,” was also a strong premillennialist. He makes his premillennialism clear when he says the following:
But we do confess that a kingdom is promised to us upon the earth, although
before heaven, only in another state of existence; inasmuch as it will be after
the resurrection for a thousand years in the divinely-built city of Jerusalem,
“let down from heaven,” which the apostle also calls “our mother from
above;” and, while declaring that our citizenship is in heaven, he predicts of it
that it is really a city in heaven. This both Ezekiel had knowledge of and the
    Apostle John beheld.”

Lastly, regarding the 70th week of Daniel. I believe it is 7 year time period that has not been fulfilled. While I have many reasons for believing this way, I think perhaps the main reason is because it is referenced in types and shadows all throughout scripture in various ways. Perhaps the simplest and clearest example is to carefully map the life and story of Joseph as a typology of Christ. He was betrayed by his brothers, just as Jesus was his brothers (the jews). He went to prison with two other prisoners, one being innocent and the other guilty, just as Jesus hung on cross with two others, one who got saved. The prisoners with Joseph also shadow communion (cup bearer and bread maker). Then out of prison Joseph was elevated to highest in land, given all authority. Just as Jesus was raised and sits on His Father’s thrown in heaven with all authority. Joseph then marries a gentile bride, just as Jesus will wed His bride, the church! THEN Joseph during the 7 YEAR famine dealt with his brothers, testing them and finally revealing himself to them; Jesus promises to return to nation of Israel after a 7 YEAR time of testing and tribulation upon the earth. We however are bride of Christ. It all fits scripture. 6 gentile brides in old testament, one in new (the church) for a perfect 7. Anyway, thats just one example. Jacob worked another 7 years for rachel. 7 year famine in ruth. The tribulation is all throughout scripture, also known as the day of the Lord. I think you’ll have a very narrow view if you claim Daniel 70 weeks were all fulfilled and miss much of what scripture wants us to know. Perhaps this is why you have to stray from scripture using conspiracy theories as support for your claim? With all due respect, you seem to love the Lord and His Holy Word so I encourage you in your writings to stick with scripture. Even my quotes from early church fathers really dont mean anything. I only quoted them to show evidence that futurism was not a 19th century idea from a cabal but not only is biblical, it was taught by those who knew the apostles personally. The cabal is about globalism, climate change, covid and other earthly things. Set your mind on things above, brother!

    • Sam, the futuristic explanations were created by the Jesuits in the 16th century to deflect blame away from the Pope, as the Protestant Reformers proclaimed that office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, fulfill Bible prophecy as the ‘little horn’ of Daniel 7, the ‘son of perdition’ of 2 Thessalonians 2, and the ‘antichrist beast’ of Revelation 13, who leads the ‘harlot’ church of Rome.
      https://70thweekofdaniel.com/how-the-leaven-of-the-70th-week-of-daniel-deceptions-spread/

We can look at the explanations of people like Albert Barnes, Adam Clarke, John Gill, Matthew Poole, Henry Grattan Guinness and E.B. Elliott; who wrote during the 16th-20th centuries, to see that they rejected the futuristic explanations.

I’m not seeing how Justin Martyr’s statements about the millennium have anything to do with the fulfillment of the seals, trumpet and bowls of Revelation; or the 70th week of Daniel 9.

As for Irenaeus and the early church fathers, they took the prophecies in Daniel and Revelation about the 1,260 days literal, as they had no comprehension that it would point to the 1,260-year reign of power of the antichrist beast Popes of Rome from 538-1798 AD. Read Prophecy Points To The Leader Of The Roman Beast

Just because they were early church fathers, doesn’t mean that everything that they declared about prophecy was accurate. They gave their best explanation based on what they knew at the time.

I do stick with Scripture in regard to the 70th week of Daniel. If you’re inserting a gap in between the 69th and 70th week, then you’re following the teachings of man, because no gap is declared in the passage. And it makes no sense for the Father to declare a 70-week prophecy, if it’s not fulfilled in 70 consecutive weeks.

Daniel gives us the definitions of the ‘people,’ the ‘Prince,’ and the ‘covenant.’ They all point to the prophecy being fulfilled in 70 consecutive weeks, as Messiah the Prince carried out His multiyear ministry in the 70th week of Daniel, until He was delivered up to be killed by the people of the prophecy, the Jews.

His death confirmed the covenant that was mentioned in Daniel 9:4, the everlasting covenant, which Daniel pleaded for the Heavenly Father to remember in regard to the Jews. Many Jews believed in Messiah and were saved.

I prove all of this out in my The 70th Week Of Daniel 9 Decoded book, which is available as a free PDF on the home page of the website.

Seek truth, not to defend a belief.

As for setting my mind on things above, I explain the fulfillment of the 70th week of Daniel, Messiah’s Olivet Discourse, 2 Thessalonians 2 and Revelation. If you follow me on facebook, then you would see that I expose globalism, climate change, covid, etc. And I show how the Society of Jesus in Rome, the Jesuit leaders, are behind it all.

      Shalom, David
